Firecats QB Wallace sets new team passing record

Firecats QB Sets New Team Passing Record

Estero, FL- Florida Firecats quarterback Chris Wallace set a new franchise passing record and nearly broke another in the final game of the regular season. Wallace finished the regular season with 4,257 passing yards, 339 more than the team record of 3918 that he tossed in 2006.

“My goal coming into the season was to be more patient with the ball and understand what we needed to get out of each and every play,” said Wallace. “This year I’ve tried to do a better job of taking what the defense gives me and moving us down the field, even if we get to the one yard line and have to run it in, which we did a lot of. I just tried to put us in the best position each week to win the game”

He nearly broke the team’s single game passing record of 349 yards, currently held by Jason Cue from 2001, but came up 2 yards shy against Manchester last weekend on the road. He finished the night 26 of 39 for 347 yards and 4 TD’s.

“He’s having probably his best season ever,” Firecats Coach Kevin Bouis said. “I know last year he threw 100 touchdowns, but this year to have thrown for so many yards and to have so few interceptions along with a great passer rating I would say this year is even better.”

Wallace has the af2’s 2nd highest passer rating of 123.7 completing 66% of his passes. He finished the year with 85 touchdowns and just 7 interceptions.
