Florida Firecats hold onto 6th in Week 12 Poll

Estero, FL- The Florida Firecats held onto the #6 spot in the arenafootball2 week 12 Coaches’ Poll. Florida knocked off their divisional rivals, the Tennessee Valley Vipers last week 53-37 on the road. The win moved the ‘Cats (7-3) into a tie for 1st place in the South Division with the South Georgia Wildcats.

The 9-0 Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers remained in the top spot after defeating then 2nd ranked South Georgia 70-62. The Pioneers current eight-week presence at the top of the Coaches Poll surpassed the seven-week run at No. 1 that the Firecats enjoyed in 2005. The Tulsa Talons moved up to 2nd followed by the Rio Grand Valley Dorados, the Bossier-Shreveport Battle Wings and South Georgia. 6 of the top 7 ranked teams hail from the National Conference. If the playoffs began this week the Firecats would hold the #5 seed and open the post-season on the road at 4th seeded Bossier-Shreveport (8-2). The top 8 teams from each conference qualify for the playoffs based on overall record.

Each week during the season the coaches vote for the leagues top 16 teams. Coaches are not allowed to vote for their own teams.
