Firecats for FCAT’s

Estero, FL- The Florida Firecats are teaming up with the School District of Lee County and Elementary Operations to provide a little stress relief to 3rd, 4th and 5th grade elementary school students who have recently completed the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT).

The Firecats have provided vouchers to the schools that will give a student free admission, when their parent or guardian purchases a ticket, to the March 31st season opener against the Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz. The students will begin receiving the vouchers from their schools this week.

“We’re very excited to be able to offer this to our students,” said Dr. Ruthie Lohmeyer Administrator for Elementary Operations in Lee County. “The Firecats have been very generous with this offer and we know the kids are going to love it.”

Superintendent of Schools in Lee County Dr. James Browder will be on hand, participating in the coin toss before the game.

Lee County Public Schools is the 60th largest district in the United States and educates nearly 80,000 students in grades K-12. For the 2006/07 school year, Lee County had the highest increase in student enrollment of any district in Florida.

“We know that the FCAT’s can cause a lot of stress on kids and their parents,” Firecats General Manager and President Chris Vallozzi said. “We wanted to reward students for their hard work.”

The Florida Firecats and the af2 believe that every fan is entitled to a wholesome environment for guests and family members and that that every fan is entitled to interact with and have access to players and coaches for autographs and conversation in recognition of their support at every game.

Florida opens the 2007 season at home against the Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz, Saturday March 31st. 2007 Season tickets are available now! Call (239) 390-CATS (2287) today to reserve your seats!
