Firecats Add Former Florida Gator McMillan

Estero, FL- The Florida Firecats added former University of Florida Defensive Tackle Clint McMillan to their roster today.  McMillan saw action in 48 games with the Gators from 2004-2007 and started in all 13 games his senior year.

“He’s got a great motor,” said Firecats Head Coach Kevin Bouis. “We expect him to be able to come in and add some needed depth to our defensive line.”

The 6’1” 285lbs Oviedo Florida native is expected to see time at nose tackle for the Firecats.

“We’ve been pretty banged up on the line all year long,” Bouis added. “He’s fresh out of Gainsville, has experience in big games and is ready to step in and contribute.”

While at Florida, McMillan was a member of the Gator’s 2007 National Championship team.

McMillan may be brand new to the areneafootball2 game, but it’s not his first experience playing with big cats.  He grew up around more than 20 tigers, two lions and four leopards on his family’s 11-acre ranch. His parents, former circus performers, opened Tiger Eye Productions in 1988 along with a wildlife preserve and a zoo keeping school.

“Instead of puppies and kittens, I had tigers and lions.” McMillan has said of his family’s feline fancy. “Even though you own them and train them from the time they were little, they’re still 600-700 pound animals. You can’t just play around with anything like that.”

McMillan will call upon his handling experience this Saturday when the Firecats host the Daytona Beach Thunderbirds.

The Florida Firecats have partnered with Herocare to help raise funds for the family of Ft. Myers Police Officer Andrew Widman. The Firecats will donate five dollars ($5) from every ticket sold between Thursday July 24th and Saturday July 26th for this Saturday’s game against Daytona Beach to Herocare.

The Firecats conclude the regular season at Germain Arena this Saturday, July 26th against the Daytona Beach ThunderBirds.  Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m., EDT.  Call (239) 390-CATS (2287) today to reserve your seats! Visit the team online at www.FloridaFirecats.com.
