Florida Firecats Fall to Tenth in Final Coaches Poll of 2008

Estero, FL-
The Florida Firecats received 193 points to finish tenth in the final Weekly Coaches Poll of the 2008 season, the arenafootball2 (af2) league office announced today.  The Firecats (9-6) fell one spot after losing to Tennessee Valley, 58-28, at Germain Arena last Saturday.  The Firecats conclude the regular season this Saturday at home against the Daytona Beach ThunderBirds.  Florida will then begin the American Conference playoffs against a yet to be determined opponent.

By securing 443 out of a possible 448 points, the Spokane Shock remained in the top spot in the poll for the fourth consecutive week.  The Shock (14-1) defeated the Quad City Steamwheelers 78-51 in
Spokane last Saturday.  The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers (13-2) won their sixth straight game last week at Mahoning Valley, 62-33, to hold onto the number two spot in the poll. South Georgia (11-4), Arkansas (10-5) and Tulsa (11-4) round out the top five.

Each week during the season, af2 coaches vote for the Top 16 teams in the league by ranking them one through 16. The complete Top 16 is listed below. The number in parentheses indicates the number of first place votes the team received.
