Sharks announce the Baber Scorpio Jacksonville defense has been on other exemptions in the league after signing with the Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football League.

 

Baber (6'0, 196, Sam Houston) signed with the Sharks, after spending time with the Miami Dolphins and Green Bay Packers. Baber origin attended the Dolphins minicamp in May 2008 on a trial basis and signed a May 5 was cut on July 30 in favor of cornerback Chris Roberson.

Baber was taken by the Green Bay Packers 7 August 2008 to take the seat vacated by Brett Favre. Baber appeared in three preseason games and recorded three tackles. He was waived during final cuts. Baber re-sign for the practice squad of the Dolphins.

Winner of three letters, Baber has played three seasons (2003-2004, 2006) of Sam Houston State. In his senior year, was an honorable mention All Southland Conference after recording 46 tackles, one interception and eight pass breakups. He finished his college career with 67 (37 solo) career tackles, three tackles for loss.

Baber was a preparation-16-2A All District and team Most Valuable Player "of Italy, Texas High School. Played two quarterback and cornerback in high school and letters from basketball and athletics.

The Jacksonville Sharks announce the addition of defensive back Javonte Holmes to the 2011 roster.

 Holmes (6’0, 185, San Diego State) joins the Sharks for his rookie season in the Arena Football League after his career at San Diego State. As an Aztec, Holmes was a defensive back logging 59 tackles and five interceptions. He was third in the Mountain West Conference in interceptions and first in interception return touchdowns. Before transferring to San Diego State, Holmes played at the College of Canyons. As a Cougar, he helped his team to a state and national title his first year.

Holmes, a Lancaster, California native, also played basketball and ran track at Palmdale High School. He served as the team captain for the football team as a senior in 2004.

Jacksonville Sharks announce the addition of fullback and linebacker Melvin Jenkins to the list of 2011.

Jenkins (6'1, 260, Florida A & M) joined the Sharks in their first season in the Arena Football League.

Jenkins is a member of the Florida A & M Rattlers in 2004 and 2005. Jenkins is a native of Bartow, Florida

Sharks announce Jacksonville defensive back and receiver Brian Walker was added to the list of 2011 Tuesday, January 11, 2011.

Walker (5'10, 175, Washington State) joined the Sharks in their first season in the Arena Football League. Walker played for the Green Bay Blizzard (LIF) in 2010 and finished the season with five tackles - four solo - an interception and three pass breaks in two games.
