Just a Quick "GOOD LUCK" to the team.
Play like you know you can and bring home a win to Southwest Florida.
I have to say if our Firecats can beat Columbus and let that energy and momentum carry them into Birmingham game, they should be able to hand Birmingham a loss and make a real run at a playoff kind of season. GOOD LUCK GUYS!!
The Cats Pounce On Macon, Leaving them Stunned at Home!
The Florida Firecats finally get back to their winning ways. Saturday they gave Macon more than a few reasons to go back to the drawing board Sunday.
The addition of Roy Stabler, who lead the teams defense last year, certainly helped the Cats defensive strength. Grabbing an interception for 12 yards in this first game back as a Fiacre.
On the offense Canion Lamb and Steve Gorrie got the job done. The a FB/LB Gorrie had an outstanding game. The MAC linebacker accounted for 57 yards- A team record- and 3 touchdowns. He now leads the entire AF2 in rushing and broke 1 team record Saturday, and tyed another one. Not to bad for a LB playing indoor.
Ken Mastrole getting back into the swing of being the "leading man" again. He was 18-25 for 226 yards. When Mastrole gets in a rhythm the entire squad seems to follow suit and they begin to really gel from top to bottom.
I think this win was what the entire squad needed. All players seemed to be playing for the team an not themselves and everything just clicked. That "click" was what Coach Bennett said he had been waiting for, now the key is to keep it going. I can say the way the players acted and felt monday of this week versus last, well they like this post winning feeling. I think they figured out what they have to do and from now on it will just be a case of doing it and watching the wins begin to pile up.
The team certainly can't sit back and relax the next 3 games are again on the road and they face teams that are known for performing hard on home turf, Birmingham right now looks like the toughest. If they get past Birmingham, I think the rest of the season will just fall into place.
