| The Bengals showed their claws |
|
Carson Palmer has toys for fun this season. The Bengals quarterback completed 15 of 23 passes for 169 yards in Cincinnati's preseason victory over Philadelphia, and connected with two formidable weapons. Terrell Owens added three receptions for 67 yards, including one for 43 yards, and Chad Ochocinco added two receptions for 29 yards. However, two of Palmer's passes for Ochocinco were intercepted by the Eagles. The catch of 43 yards to Owens set the stage for the first touchdown of the Bengals, who arrived on the next play, with a carry of 6 yards from sophomore running back Bernard Scott. The Eagles then turned to the front with three field goals by David Akers, but the Bengals again be set up on the scoreboard in the fourth quarter with two rushing touchdowns from sophomore running back also PeerMe Cedric, one of them made by him same for two extra points. The aim of Philadelphia was to get a touchdown with his young starting offense for the first time this preseason. In the previous game, against Jacksonville, quarterback Kevin Kolb led the Eagles on two possessions, but had to settle for field goals. Same story this time. Six possessions for the headlines, two field goals. Philadelphia kept his starting offense on the field during the entire first half, but the results were not expected. Kolb completed 11 of 17 passes for 126 yards, but most of that production came late in the first half when the Bengals began to replace men on the defensive. |
